Quantum Kid’s “Quick Circuit” FAQ
Q. How do I know my child will be safe?
A. The Kid’s Circuit utilizes hydraulic resistance, not plate weights, which is safer. The machines are sized for children to help with body positioning and good technique. It is safe, easy and effective exercise without the intimidation and little to no delayed muscle soreness. The Quantum “Quick Circuit” works all major muscle groups on 11 machines, and the instructor will also show them to compliment the circuit with calf, shin and ankle exercises. Studies show children as young as 8 yrs. can safely weight train under supervision. Trainers and parents need to make sure children are not lifting too heavy, are lifting controlled, have proper body alignment, are breathing properly, are stretching after lifting, and that children are working opposing muscle groups equally.
Q. Is There Additional Cardiovascular Exercise for Children?
A. In addition, HPRF has a Treadwall (Indoor climbing), Pool, Racquetball Courts, Concept 11 Rowers, and other cardiovascular equipment that children can use to build their cardiovascular system. Some cardio equipment are height dependent; however, the three mentioned are not.
Q. What Will Children do for a Work Out?
A. Children will be shown to work up to 3 sets of 10-12 reps on all 11 machines which are appropriate for their individual health concerns as well as standing calf raises with their own body weight and shin flexion and ankle rotation exercises to compliment the machines and to target needed muscle groups. They will also be encouraged to build their stamina on a variety of aerobic exercises stated above. Including their school gym class, children should at least do 30 minutes of “stop and go” cardiovascular exercise 4 days a week.
Q. Is Personal Training Available?
A. Personal training is available. One hour for $50 or 5 one hour appointments for $125. Remember, 3 training appointments are included with the child’s membership.
