Youth in Motion
Youth Fitness plays a fundamental role in the health of boys and girls of all ages. From sports to dancing to aquatic activities, kids benefit both physically and mentally. HRC Fitness offers programs for kids and teens under the supervision of highly trained instructors. Our goal is to help kids have fun while improving their level of fitness.
Who The Classes Are Designed For
Our youth fitness and wellness programs are structured for boys and girls. We offer a wide variety of activities for kids from 6 months to late teens. Programs are scheduled for 6, 7, or 8-week sessions.
The Type Of Classes We Offer
Whether your child is sports-minded with a strong competitive spirit, or enjoys challenging activities, such as yoga or dancing, we offer something for all kids. Besides swimming and dancing, our classes include the following:
- Zumba: A fun activity that combines aerobic exercise with dance. Children ages 4 to 11 will participate in choreographed moves inspired by Latin, reggae, and hip-hop music. It’s a great cardio workout for kids, improves coordination, and it’s a lot of fun!
- Yoga: For improved concentration, flexibility, and a well-balanced connection of mind and body.
- Martial Arts: Featuring Karate and Jiu-Jitsu among other forms.
Our Times, Scheduling, And Pricing
We have times, scheduling, and pricing to accommodate all. With evening class times, activities won’t interfere with schoolwork. During summer, we offer full or half-day camp for children ages 4-15. Classes for F.I.T. (FullBody Interval Training), Zumba, and Yoga occur fall, winter, and spring. We offer individual pricing as well as pricing for family memberships. No annual contract is required.
How Children Can Benefit From Youth Fitness
Youth Fitness improves the physical health of a child, as strong bones and muscles may help prevent everyday injuries. It helps children manage weight and prevent obesity. Exercise also offers psychological benefits, as it’s a way to build confidence and self-esteem. Fitness programs also help kids develop bonds and socially interact with other children.
Registration is required for Youth Programs whether you are a member of HRC Fitness or would like to participate as a Guest. Registration can be taken at Member Services or online. HRC Fitness members will have an online username and password to access a list of programs and can register online. If you are not a member of HRC Fitness, you may become a Guest in our online registration service to access a list of programs and register online.

Other Youth Programs
HRC Fitness also offers Instruction in Swimming, Martial Arts programs for kids and access to dance instruction. Registration is required.
- Swimming Lessons (6-7 week sessions) Ages 6 mo. and up
The Swim Academy at HRC boasts low student to teacher ratios with classes offered for students ages 6 months and up. We offer over 70 classes year-round during each swim session with a large variety of days and times for each ability level.
- Martial Arts (monthly or annual) Ages 4 and up
We offer year-round programs for beginner through advanced levels in traditional karate, aikido, and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. See our Member Services Team to register for Martial Arts programs.
Performance and Competition Dance
A classical dance education teaches students how to move to music and delves into the global history of dance. Premiere Dance Hillsborough maintains a roomy facility with four separate studios for instruction. All studio equipment is professional grade. Participants are invited to join us for classes in Ballet, Contemporary, Hip Hop, Lyrical, Jazz, Modern, and Tap.
The youngest students can join us for classes like Dance Together, Nursery Dance and Kindercombo. From these introductory classes through the adult levels, students are taught by instructors qualified in various dance disciplines who are dedicated to helping students find their styles.
- Nursery Dance and Kinderdance Ages 3-4 & 4-5
Warm-up stretches, introductory ballet, tap, and creative movement is introduced. Students will learn to memorize and perform educational songs and dances. This class also enhances the child’s development in motor skills. More info and Register
- Dance Together Ages 18mo-3 years
Dance Together will help the child adjust to new group activities and will introduce her to natural rhythms and first step motor skills. Suitable games, music and props will motivate self-discovery. In a stimulated environment, your child can benefit both physically and emotionally while interacting with you. More info and Register
